M1s vs Upminster – EH Trophy – 17th Nov 13

Old Bordenians 2 – 1  Upminster

Having made a significant step in performance levels the previous day Bordenians took to the pitch full of confidence for their second round clash against Upminster in the NOW: Pensions Trophy.

There were a couple of early chances for Upminster as Bordenians took a few minutes to settle however they quickly got into their stride and began to dominate possession and dictate the pace of the game, this resulted in an array of chances to open the scoring and it took until mid way through the half to open their account thanks to Michael Neame and a short while after this was extended when Paul Stone got his second of the weekend.  Two goals to the good at half time and Bordenians looked to be cruising.

Very little changed in the second half as Bordenians continued to create chances with almost every attack but similarly to Saturday’s game they failed to convert the chances and a little doubt crept in.  With little more than 10 minutes remaining Upminster got a rare glimpse at goal and took full advantage however unlike the previous day Bordenians comfortably held them at bay for the remainder of the half to advance to round 3 of the trophy.

All in all a good weekend for Bordenians but still with some work to be done at training in order to push their performance up a couple more knotches.
