Old Bordenian 1st X1 5 – 3 Worthing 1st XI

Old Bordenians had a large portion of the opening play on Saturday but failed to make their early dominance count with a goal and went behind to Worthing from a penalty corner. OBs continued to press with intent and pulled back level through Mike Willis with a nicely placed reverse stick effort low into the corner of the goal. Bordenians then won a penalty corner and Paul Stone converted a well worked move. Stone picked up his second with minutes remaining in the first half via a nicely deflected effort. The start of the second half was poor for Bordenians, allowing Worthing to capitalise and score two penalty corners and draw level. After the sloppy opening spell, Old Boys regained composure and went in front when Richard Cooper scored.on his return from injury. Bordenians continued to play with intent and moved the ball around well for the final fifteen minutes, and a well worked move found it’s way to captain, Jason Waitt, who beat two defenders before firing a thunderbolt reverse stick rocket in to top corner of the Worthing net, sealing the win for Bordenians. Next week is a home tie and a potential top of the table clash against Ashford.
