M5 v Sutton Valance – 7th Mar 2015

Sutton Valance – 3 v Old Bordenian 5th X1 – 1

A very changed team from last week and Bordenians went into this game missing a lot of the experienced faces that have helped them enjoy a good run of performances. The first half as a result was a very nondescript one as Bordenians struggled to find their shape, thankfully Sutton Valence did not take advantage in what was a very even half. The highlight was a shot from Gavin Fisher close to half-time that forced a good save from the SV goalkeeper. He went one better early in the second half when he was in the right place to pounce on a rebounded short corner. Bordenians had started the second half well and deserved their lead, however Sutton Valence did not take long to equalise and survived a Mike Leake opportunity shortly after to keep it at 1-1. This proved to be the turning point and Bordenians were struggling to keep their shape, especially when captain David Crombie was forced off injured. It was however still a close game and whilst by the end of it Sutton Valence probably deserved to take all the points the 3-1 final scoreline was harsh on the visitors.
