It was another great weekend of hockey for OBHC’s 1st XI Squad with the 1s beating Ashford 1s away 3-1 and the 2s beating Ashford 2s at home 3-0.

The 1s game was a hard fought affair with both team creating chances and Ashford having 4 short corners on the bounce scoring one for it only to be disallowed, however Old Boys went into the half time break 1-0 up. In the second half it was a different storey with Ashford down to 9 men for 10mins following two consecutive Ashford yellow cards Old Boys stepped up the anti and capitalised producing 2 well worked goals. Captain James Henley commented “…it was a tough game and very close to start with but we kept the pressure on and something had to give and we got our break with the yellow cards…our performance was once again very strong however there is still as lot to learn and improve on…” Click here to read the match report this week the 1s play Burnt Ash at home this coming weekend 13:30 start at OBHC HQ.

The 2s found themselves up against a team which are currently higher in the league however it didn’t deter them much scoring 3 unanswered goals to seal the win, 2s Captain David Wherrel said “…it was great to see the boys bounce back from last weeks narrow defeat to Marden 1s with such confidence and conviction…we played as a unit and controlled the game from start to finish…” The whole squad has been been training hard since early August and you can see it starting to pay off, there’s a long way to go but it’s encouraging. The 2s are looking to build on there strong 2015-16 season having been newly promoted that season and consolidate themselves even more looking for that top 3 finish.
