Old Bordenians came out to this game with determination to keep these Heathens at bay. From the start, the Old Boys dominated the game with Craig Stone driving at the opposition from the whistle. Following this start, Blackheath put the home side under continual pressure, and it was a shock when they went one down. With this shock, the Old Boys knew they needed to come back strongly and with the first substitution of the game, Dave Philp came on and got a great 40 yard pass to Jacob Burch in the D who levelled the score. With both teams battling hard for possession, it was not long until the next goal came, this time it was Craig Stone putting the Old Boys into the lead. Craig Mulder controlled his goal for OBs and, following a melee in the D got the ball out of danger, giving the Old Boys a chance to resume control and turn back to attack
From the start of the second half, the Old Boys looked to be more comfortable with the pressure Blackheath were trying to put on the game. Knowing that they were controlling the game, it was not long until OBs’ Matt Cook received the ball outside the 25 and was able to drive directly into the D and took the easy pass in front of the keeper giving Chris Piesley the chance for an open goal, giving the old boys the deserved win of 3-1.
