M2 v Sevenoaks – 3rd November 2018

Old Bordenian 2 nd X1 – 2
Sevenoaks – 2
OBHC 2nds were unlucky not to take all three points against a well resourced Sevenoaks 3 rd  XI on
Saturday. OBHC struggled to find their rhythm early on but managed to keep out a barrage of
penalty corners thanks to a well organised defence and good saves from keeper Jake Anderton. On
the counter-attack, OBs threatened occasionally but without meaningful intent. At half-time, the
team talk seemed to lift the Old Boys who came out of the blocks strongly, putting Sevenoaks under
early pressure. Old Boys were awarded a penalty corner thanks to some fantastic interplay between
Josh Willis and Josh Cosgrove. Sunjit Atwal converted the penalty corner with style, taking the Old
Boys ahead. Iain Burwood extended the lead minutes later, skilfully bulldozing through the
Sevenoaks defence and finishing past the ‘keeper. Sevenoaks pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to
play through a well struck reverse stick into the bottom corner. Dan Gunner was unlucky not to
regain the two goal advantage but hit the ball straight towards the ‘keeper. OBs thought they would
hold on to the win but, with seconds to play, Sevenoaks converted from a penalty corner, the ball
deflecting off a defender’s shin-pad into the top corner, spoils therefore shared between the two
