M1 v Canterbury – 26th October 2019

Canterbury 2 nd X1 – 3
Old Bordenian 1 st X1 – 2
OBs travelled to Canterbury on Saturday and were unfortunate to leave without a single point.
Although Old Boys spent large parts of the opening minutes under pressure, they were resolute and
took a 1-0 lead when Richard Turner scored from a penalty corner.  Old Boys continued to work
tirelessly and were unfortunate to be reduced to ten men for a harsh yellow card for Josh Mitchell.
Canterbury turned the screw at this point and scored an equaliser before the break.  Canterbury
came out the blocks fast in the second half and OBs’ ‘keeper Richard Ford made a number of saves
before Richard Turner scored an excellent reverse stick effort to put OBs in front.  However,
Canterbury did find an equaliser and, with seconds left, the ball struck a Canterbury foot in the D but
this went unnoticed and instead Canterbury were awarded a penalty corner when the ball then
struck a Bordenian foot and Canterbury scored to deprive OBs of a share of the points and take the
game 3-2.
