M2 v Tunbridge Wells – 7th December 2019

Tunbridge Wells 2nd X1 – 2

Old Bordenian 2nd X1 – 2

The men’s 2nd X1 finished the year with a game against Tunbridge Wells 2nd X1 which turned out to be an evenly balanced match.

OBs struggled to string passes together in the early stages and put themselves under pressure. OBs’ defence worked hard and with a few brilliant saves from Sam Kemp, making his 2nd X1 debut, kept OBs in the game.

A fine pass down the line from Ed Hewlett found Dan Gunner, who ran at the Tunbridge Wells defence and played a ball across the goal to find Steve Dale who scored OBs’ first. As pressure built on the OB defence, Tunbridge Wells eventually found an equalizer to bring the game to 1-1 at half time.

OBs started the second half better and created some well worked routines, putting the Tunbridge Wells defence constantly under pressure.  Balls around the top of the D found Rich Phillips in space and he scored OBs’ second goal.

OBs worked hard to keep their lead but a strong Tunbridge Wells team overran the OBs’ defence and they found their equalizer.

OBs 2nd X1 will be looking for their first 3 points of the new year against Cliftonville on the 14th January.
