M2 v Canterbury – 7th March 2020

Old Bordenian 2 nd X1 – 0
Canterbury – 2
Old Boys travelled to top of the league Canterbury knowing that it would be a difficult match.
Canterbury started strongly as expected and for the first ten minutes spent most of the time in the Old Boys
half but were unable to convert their penalty corners, which gave Old Boys some hope.
It was not long before Canterbury’s structured attack found the back of the net.
There were some opportunities for Old Boys that they just could not finish which unsettled Canterbury who
pulled it back together and won a penalty corner which found the back of the net. A good challenge of the
umpire’s decision saw the goal disallowed.
After a rallying half-time talk, Old Boys started strongly but Canterbury were ready for them and most of the
half was end to end hockey. Five minutes before full-time, Canterbury again found the back of the net.
Undeterred, Old Boys won a penalty corner but could not convert it.
Back on home turf next week for a must-win game against Sevenoaks.
