M1 v Burnt Ash – 2nd December 2017

Old Bordenian 1st X1 – 2
Burnt Ash – 4
Old Bordenians were immediately under pressure, conceding within the first five minutes. The first half did not improve much for Old Boys and Burnt Ash were well organised and played the better hockey, creating a number of opportunities which were well saved by Richard Ford. Late in the first half, Old Boys did start to string some passes together and won a short corner which was well converted by Huw Stevens, but concentration slipped before half-time and this allowed Ash to retake the lead with a good reverse stick finish.
Needing a rallying call similar to the previously week, Old Boys had to come together but the required comeback could not be repeated and as Old Boys pressed for the equaliser in the second half Ash were able to capitalise with two breakaway goals and secured the three points. Old Boys did fight until the very end and scored a consolation goal to leave the match 4-2. Old Boys finish the first half of the season this week with an away trip to Lewes.
