M1 v Eastbourne – 7th October 2017

Old Bordenian 1 st X1 – 0
Eastbourne 1 st X1 – 2
Old Bordenians came up against a strong and well organised Eastbourne side who inflicted the first
home defeat for Old Boys in over a year. Eastbourne played in a style very similar to Old Boys:
pressing high, applying pressure and allowing no time on the ball. Whilst Old Boys looked to do the
same, there was a lack of consistency to the play which enabled Eastbourne to build pressure which
they eventually capitalised on towards the end of the first half. Trailing 1-0 at half time was
recoverable for Old Boys but despite an improved second half display, they could not find an
opening, with Iain Burwood the closest when finding the cross bar with the keeper well beaten. As
Old Boys went in search of the equaliser Eastbourne were able to double the lead and seal the
victory for the visiting side. Old Boys look to regroup next week with a trip to Folkestone and put the
disappointing loss behind them.
