With the team knowing they had to win to give themselves a chance at the end of the season Coach Huw Stevens made it abundantly clear what was required and the feeling in the dressing room was positive but not complacent a job had to be done. Right from the off Old Boys applied the pressure relentlessly pressing off the ball and moving forward with the ball each time there was a turn-over, “…work rate is key, do the rubbish job and the rest will come…” resonating in the players heads. It wasn’t long until the hard work paid off and the first goal was scored from there on in the goals consistently came seeing a 4-0 lead at half time. The second half was just as routine with a further 6 being scored and none conceded, a good 3 points earn’t and +10 goal difference the league is tight at the tight so it come down to goal difference.

…one game at a time, no point in focusing on anything other than what’s in front of you…” With the rain lashing down building up to game the pitch was set to be slick and fast something the boys could use to their quick passing game to their advantage against a tougher opposition Eastbourne. Old Boys started well getting an early lead to settle things down however it wasn’t plain sailing and the first half saw a good 15-20mins of solid pressure applied by Eastbourne which the team sucked up by digging in and working hard utilising their full bench. Their hard work was rewarded grabbing a second goal just before half time. The second half saw one of the best performances of the season with relentless work rate from end to end of the pitch the boys played well not giving Eastbourne an inch which lead to a further 3 goals being added.
